• analysis of pleural effusion

Clinical significance

• component of Light's criteria for evaluation of exudate in pleural effusion
  • pleural fluid LDH > 200 U/L or > 2/3 the upper limit of normal for serum LDH*
  • pleural fluid/serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)* > 0.6
