• occurs between 5-20 year of age
• no gender specificity

Pathology

• synovitis
• joint effusions

Clinical manifestations

• symmetrical joint swelling lasting up to 1 year
• most commonly affects the knees
• generally painless

Management

• generally no disability
• generally complete recovery
