Management

ibuprofen 800 mg PO once
1% lidocaine paracervical block may decrease pain during & after IUD placement^[1]
- lidocaine block administered at the tenaculum site & the cervicovaginal junction
- vaginal lidocaine gel may not be effective^[2]
