Introduction
investigational new drug
Indications
- postexposure prophylaxis of varicella for whom the varicella vaccine is contraindicated[1]
- may be given up to 10 days after exposure to varicella, the earlier, the better[1]
- immunocompromised patients without apparent immunity
- newborns whose mothers have signs of varicella in the peripartum period
- hospitalized premature infants born >= 28 weeks of gestation from mother without evidence of immunity to varicella
- hospitalized premature infants born < 28 weeks of gestation, regardless of their mothers' immunity status
- pregnant women without immunity to varicella
