Laboratory
- hepatitis B virus DNA in serum: positive, but low titer (< 10,000 IU/mL)*
- serum ALT normal*
- serum HBsAg positive
- serum HBsAb negative
- serum HBcIgM negative
- serum HBcIgG positive
- serum HBeAg negative
- serum HBeAb variable
* useful for survelliance of inactive carrier (every 6-12 months)
Diagnostic procedures
- survelliance for hepatocellular carcinoma in high-risk (high hepatitis B virus DNA) with abdominal ultrasound every 6 months[1]*
* survelliance with serum alpha-fetoprotein insufficient[1]

- no treatment required[1]
