Introduction
Tradename: Nupercainal.
Indications
- symptomatic relief of discomfort associated with hemorrhoids & perianal itching or irritation
- relief of minor pains due to burns or irritation
Contraindications
Dosage
- apply 1% ointment or 0.5% cream every 12 hours, PRN or after bowel movement
- 1 suppository PRN up to a max of 6/24 hours
- burns/irritation:
- apply to affected area
- max dose 30 gm in 24 hours
Mechanism of action
- blocks Na+ channels
- inhibition of neuronal impulses
