acetic acid/cortisol/propylene glycol otic (VoSol otic)

Introduction

2% acetic acid in propylene glycol.

Indications

• treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the external auditory canal

Dosage

• insert saturated wick; keep moist for 24 hours
• 5 drops TID/QID.

2%. 15 mL.

VoSol HC adds 1% hydrocortisone. 10 mL.

Adverse effects

• burning
• irritation
• uncommon (< 1%)
  • systemic acidosis
  • urologic pain
  • hematuria
