Classification
Clinical manifestations
- manifestations must have been present since young adulthood to meet criteria for personality disorder
Management
- assess for & treat underlying mental illness
- schedule regular visits rather than PRN
- use case managers to solicit needs of avoidant patients & to provide extra reassurance & attendance to needs of dependent & obsessive-compulsive patients
