Function

• broad activity as an NMP kinase
• AMP & dAMP are the preferred substrates of all tested NMPs,
• CMP & dCMP are also good substrates
• IMP can be phosphorylated, but to a much lesser extent
• adenylate & cytidylate can serve as phosphate acceptors
• interacts with COIL (via C-terminus)

Kinetic parameters:

• KM=75.3 uM for ATP
• Vmax=1.27 umol/min/mg enzyme

• isoform 1 & isoform 2 are produced by the same gene but are translated from different initiation codons & use different reading frames so they display no identity in their protein sequences
