Indications

• topical anesthetic to relieve pain & gagging

Dosage

(aerosol)

• apply to affected area for approximately 1 second

0.5%, 56 g.

Adverse effects

• dose-related & may reflect high plasma levels
• not common (1-10%)
  • contact dermatitis, burning, stinging, angioedema
• uncommmon (< 1%)
  • methemoglobinemia in infants, tenderness, urticaria, edema, urethritis
