sodium morrhuate (Scleromate)

Indications

• sclerosing agent used for obliteration of varicose veins

Contraindications

• not for use with significant valvular or deep vein incompetence

Dosage

• 50-250 mg by injection depending upon size of the vein
• 12.5-50 mg injected into a varicosity 24 hours before administration of a large dose to determine sensitivity
