Indications
- treatment of hyperammonemia
Dosage
- loading dose 500 mg/kg (250 mg/kg of each drug) infused over 90 minutes
- maintenace 500 mg/kg/day
Adverse effects
- particulate matter may impact the safe use of Ammonul[2]
Mechanism of action
- phenylacetate combines with glutamine to form phenylacetylglutamine which is excreted in the urine
- benzoate combines with glycine to form hippurate which is excreted in the urine
- reduced influx into the urea cycle
