- can cause fatal poisonings
- gyromitrin (N-methyl-N-formylhydrazone) rapidly decomposes in the stomach to form acetaldehyde & N-methyl-N-formylhydrazine, which is converted to monomethylhydrazine by slow hydrolysis (see methylhydrazine)
