Etiology
- spinal cord tumor
- trauma
- gunshot wound
- puncture wound to the neck or back
- ischemia
- tuberculosis
- multiple sclerosis
- trauma
Pathology
- lateral hemisection of the spinal cord
- loss of sensation & motor function (paralysis & ataxia) below the level of the injury
- contralateral loss of pain & temperature sensation
- loss of ipsilateral autonomic function can result in Horner syndrome[2]
