Introduction
complement C3 with hydrolysed thioester C338-E341
Function
- interacts with proteins that do not interact with native C3
- interacts with properdin factor B in the presence of Mg+2
- factor B upon binding iC3 can interact with factor D, resulting in cleavage to generate the initiation C3 convertase iC3Bb & liberate a small fragment Ba.
