Procedure

• speech rapid alternating movements
  • having the patient say 'lah-pah-kah' can test rapid alternating movements of the tongue, lips, & palate
• hand rapid alternating movements
  • finger tapping, wrist rotation & front-to-back hand patting
  • observe for rapidity & rhythm of movements
  • note any right-left disparity
• foot rapid alternating movements
  • patient taps his/her foot on the floor
