- generally well tolerated by patients
Mechanism of action
- antimuscarinic agent
- inhibits gastric secretion at lower doses than are required to affect gastrointestinal motility, salivary, CNS, cardiovascular, ocular, & urinary function
- promotes the healing of duodenal ulcers
- cytoprotective, beneficial in prevention of duodenal ulcer recurrence
- potentiates the effect of other antiulcer agents such as cimetidine & ranitidine
