Complications
- hypoglycemia is worse than hyperglycemia
Management
- personalized experience managing the patient is helpful in determining baseline insulin requirement & judiciously treating episodes of hyperglycemia
- be prepared for hypoglycemia when treating hyperglycemia
- tolerate lowest level of serum glucose that mimimizes risk of hypoglycemia
