Pathology

• growth of polyp in the external auditory canal.
• may be attached to the tympanic membrane
• may grow from the middle ear space

Physical examination

• examination of the ear with otoscope

Clinical manifestations

• bloody drainage from the ear
• hearing loss

Management

• general (conservative measures)
  • avoid water in ear
  • coricosporin otic
• surgical polypectomy
  • cholesteoma
  • failure to respond to conservative measures
