criteria for removal of intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor

Introduction

• if patient remains comatose, monitor is left in place for at least 4 days
• ICP & pCO2 normal after
  • no need for mannitol for 24 hours
  • tapering of sedation
• ICP should be normal for at least 24 hours prior to removal
