Indications
- chronic pain refractory to medical therapy
Procedure
- any surgery on the spinal cord
- usually done percutaneously with fluoroscopic guidance while under local anesthesia
- open cordotomy requires a laminectomy
Complications
- effect is usually temporary
- dysesthesia is frequent
