coagulation factor deficiency

Introduction

Deficiency in one or more of the blood coagulation factors.

Clinical manifestations

• spontaneous or unexpected bleeding, especially into joints (hemarthrosis) or muscle

Laboratory

• prothrombin time (PT) may be prolonged if
  • deficiency of factor II, factor V, facto VII or factor X
• prolongation of acitvated partial thrmboplasin time (aPTT)
