- pleural fluid analysis (also see pleural effusion)
- exudative effusion
- WBC >= 80% lymphocytes
- pH < 7.30
- elevated rheumatoid factor titer
- elevated protein
- LDH often elevated, often exceeding 1000 IU/L[2]
