Indications
- treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis in children & adults
- prophylaxis for allergic rhinitis & asthma exacerbations due to dust mite allergy*[4]
* no effect on quality of life[4]
Procedure
- sublingual allergen extract used to desensitize allergic reaction
- Grastek: sublingual tablet for treating Timothy grass pollen allergy
- Oralair: sublingual tablet for treating grass pollen allergy
- Ragwitek: sublingual tablet for treating short ragweed pollen allergy
- 2 years of sublingual immunotherapy for grass pollen allergy insufficient for long-term benefits[5]
Mechanism of action
- Oralair contains extracts from five grass pollens:
- Grastek contains timothy grass extract
- Ragwitek contains ragweed pollen extract
