middle nasal concha (middle turbinated bone)

Introduction

A thin, spongy, bony plate-like process of the ethmoid bone projecting from the lateral wall of the nasal cavity separating the middle meatus from the superior meatus.

The bony process contains a thick mucoperiosteum.

Above is an extensive cavernous vascular bed for heat exchange.
