Introduction

Intrinsic muscle of the palm.

Origin

• transverse head: shaft of the 3rd metacarpal
• oblique head: front of the base of the 2nd metacarpal
• trapezoid & capitate bones

Insertion

medial side of the proximal phalanx of the thumb

Action

adducts thumb

Innervation

ulnar nerve
