Origin

• continuation of fiber of the inferior portion of the internal oblique
• fibers arising from the inguinal ligament

Insertion

• male: fibers becomes interspersed within cremasteric fascia of the spermatic cord & that covering the testes
• female: round ligament of the uterus

Action

elevation of testicle

Innervation

genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve
