Origin

• the genitofemoral nerve arises from L1 & L2

Course

• it penetrates the anterior surface of the psoas major muscle & runs inferiorly on it deep to the psoas fascia
• it divides lateral to the common liac artery & external iliac artery to form the femoral & genital branches.
