Introduction

Deep back (erector spinae) muscle.

Origin

medial side of the angles of the lower 6 ribs

Insertion

angles of the upper 6 ribs

Action

extends, abducts & rotates thoracic vertebrae

Innervation

dorsal branches of the thoracic nerves
