external iliac lymph node

Introduction

Parietal nodes located in association with the external iliac vein. Subdivided into 3 groups:

• Intermediate external iliac - between the external iliac artery & vein
• Lateral external iliac - lateral to the vein
• Medial external iliac - medial to the vein

Communication:

• receive afferents from the inguinal nodes, lower abdominal wall & pelvic viscera
• send efferents to the common iliac nodes
