Introduction
Strcture:
- a circumscript, bipartite cell group located in the lower ventrolateral pontine tegmentum, immediately dorsal to the trapezoid body
Function
- the superior olivary nucleus is thought to be involved in spatial localization of sound.
Afferents
- cochlear nuclei bilaterally
Efferents
- contributes to the lateral (auditory) lemniscus.
