Structure
- a white band consisting largely of nerve fibers originating from the mitral cells & tufted cells of the olfactory bulb
- it also contains fibers originating from scattered cells of the anterior olfactory nucleus
Course
- the olfactory tract runs along the ventral surface of the frontal lobe, attaches to the base of the cerebral hemisphere at the olfactory trigone, then extends to form the olfactory striae which distribute their fibers to the olfactory tubercle, but mostly to the olfactory cortex
