Function
- the anterior spinocerebellar tract conveys proprioceptive & exteroceptive information largely from the opposite lower extremity
Origin
- bundle of fibers originating in the base of the posterior horn& zona intermedia throughout the lumbar-sacral segments of the spinal cord
Course
- the fibers cross to the opposite side & ascend in the ventral 1/2 of the lateral funiculus
- in the rhombencephalon, the tract curves dorsally along the rostral border of the trigeminal motor nucleus, entering the cerebellum in a caudal direction over the dorsal surface of the superior cerebellar peduncle
- the tract terminates as mossy fibers in the granular layer of the cortex of the cerebellar vermis
- some fibers cross the midline again in the cerebellum
