Introduction
An irregular aperature, filled with cartilage in living individuals, located between the apex of the petrous part of the temporal bone, the body of the sphenoid & the basilar part of the occipital bone on either side.
Several structures pass along the margins of the foramen lacerum, but no structures pass through.
