Origin

• tibial nerve

Innervation

• skin of the lateral aspect of the sole
• skin of 5th toe & lateral 1/2 of 4th toe
• intrinsic muscles of the plantar compartment of foot (EXCEPT the abductor hallucis & flexor digitorum brevis)

Course

• passes along the lateral side of the sole, dividing into superficial & deep branches.

Branches

• superficial branch of the lateral plantar nerve
• deep branch of the lateral plantar nerve
