anterior perforated substance (olfactory area)

Structure

• a region at the base of the brain through which lenticulostriate arteries enter the cerebral hemispheres
• it is bordered medially by the optic chiasm & the anterior 1/2 of the optic tract & rostrally & laterally by the lateral olfactory stria
• its anteromedial part corresponds to the olfactory tubercle
