Introduction

A slender, compact fiber bundle that connects the amygdala with the hypothalamus & other basal forebrain regions.

The stria terminalis originates from cell bodies in the amygdala & terminates in the anterior hypothalamic nuclei & ventromedial hypothalamic nuclei.

The stria terminalis passes caudally in the roof of the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle, follows the medial side of the caudate nucleus forward in the floor of the body of the lateral ventricle until it reaches the interventricular foramen.

In the posterior wall of the interventricular foramen, it curves downward to enter the hypothalamus with fibers passing both rostral & caudal to the anterior commissure.
