internal iliac vein (hypogastric vein)

Introduction

Paired veins that pass through to lesser pelvis from the upper border of the greater sciatic notch to the brim of the pelvis where it merges with the external iliac vein on the same side to form the common iliac vein. It drains most of the area supplied by the internal iliac artery.
