Epidemiology
- vector of babesiosis in northeastern & midwestern states[1]
- vector of Borrelia burgdorferi & Lyme disease
- females are primary blood feeders
- tick must be attached at least 36-48 hours before Borrelia burgdorferi can be transmitted[2]
