Malassezia ovalis (Pityrosporum ovalis)

Introduction

A species of yeast found in superficial epidermal scales & hair follicles on oily skin. Pathogenicity is minimal. Malassezia ovalis may cause seborrheic dermatitis associated with immune deficiency.
