Introduction

Generally lumped with Mycobacterium avium as Mycobacterium avium intracellulare or Mycobacterium avium complex.

Accounts for 40% of cases of Mycobacterium avium intracellulare in immunocompetent patients.

Typically manifests as pulmonary disease
