Introduction

Small star-shaped cells in layers 2 & 4 or the cerebral cortex. The stellate cells in layer 2 of the entorhinal cortex are injured early in the course of Alzheimer's disease.

Large stellate cells are also found in the deeper part of layer 3 of the visual cortex.
