Introduction

Area of the dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex involved in higher cognitive function. The DLPFC contains dopaminergic neurons which fail to migrate normally during development of patients with schizophrenia. This results in hypoactivity of the dopaminergic neurons & is thought to account for the chronic phase (negative symptoms) of schizophrenia.
