Introduction
IgA is the dominant immunoglobulin of the mucosal immune system providing the main defense for mucosal surfaces. IgA is made in lymphoid tissues that are proximal to mucosa-bearing organs & is transported onto mucosal surfaces. IgA molecules in blood are not secreted onto mucosal surfaces.
