Korotkoff sound

Introduction

The sound heard with a stethoscope over an artery when the pressure applied by a blood pressure cuff drops below the systolic blood pressure. Korotkoff sounds persist as the cuff pressure is lowered until the cuff pressure drops below the diastolic blood pressure.
