Introduction
Tradenames: ISMO, Monoket. Alias ISMN.
Indications
Dosage
20 mg PO every 7 hours. 2 doses/day Tabs: 10 & 20 mg. Extended-release: Tradename: Imdur. 30-240 mg PO QD. Tabs: 60 mg.
* An 8-12 hour nitrate-free period needed to avoid nitrate tolerance[2]
Adverse effects
- may adversely affect (diminish) activity levels in patients with LV diastolic dysfunction[3]
Notes
- mononitrates are less prone than dinitrates to cause tolerance
