Introduction

A form of AD characterized by the presence of Lewy bodies & Hirano bodies. Amyloid plaques are present in the usual abundance (in contrast to diffuse Lewy body disease); however, neurofibrillary tangles are few in number.

It is considered by some to be one & the same as diffuse Lewy body disease (Lewy body dementia)[1]. Others[2] consider it a separate entity.
