Pathology
- large cells
- grows faster than adenocarcinoma
- brain metastases (28%)
Clinical manifestations
Laboratory
- serum calcium: hypercalcemia (13%)
- increased secretion of hCG, LH & FSH may occur
- serum chorionic gonadotropin
- serum luteining hormone
- serum follicle-stimulating hormone
Radiology
- chest X-ray
- large masses
- cavitation (20-25%)
Management
- surgery
- response to radiation & chemotherapy is poor
