Genetics

• autosomal dominant
• associated with defects in HOXD13

Clinical manifestations

• metacarpal & metatarsal fusion
• metacarpals & metatarsals most commonly fused are the 4th & 5th or the 3rd & 4th
• soft tissue syndactyly usually affects the 3rd & 4th fingers & the 2nd & 3rd toes
