ornithine decarboxylase antizyme 3; AZ3; ODC-Az 3 (OAZ3)
Jump to navigation
Jump to search
Function
- binds to, & destabilizes, ornithine decarboxylase
- does not accelerate ornithine decarboxylase degeneration
- OAZ3 probably plays a role in spermatogenesis by regulating the intracellular concentration of polyamines in haploid germ cells
- interacts with GGN (putative)
Structure
belongs to the ODC antizyme family
Compartment
Expression
- testis specific
- expression starts early in spermiogenesis & terminates in late spermatid phase
Notes
- aribosomal frameshift occurs between the codons for Ser-28 & Glu-29
- an autoregulatory mechanism enables modulation of frameshifting according to the cellular concentration of polyamines
